Mulvany & Rogers

Master Classes

At various times during the year we tidy up our studio and throw open the doors to small groups of students. Each class revolves around making a specific piece designed to cover various aspects of our techniques.

Students learn how to adapt the techniques to their own projects, as well as taking  home a genuine and finished Mulvany &Rogers design.

The classes are open to all ability levels and our aim is to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable and challenging time. We are very hands on and are only too happy to help you out of a sticky mess or re-cut bits that are a bit wobbly.

Currently we are running four courses which are described below.

We also have plans for two new ones which will be posted on the site when they are ready.

Some Comments from Previous Students

“I was nervous about doing the course because I’m not very experienced but we’ve had a great group this week and Kevin and Susie are very patient. I can’t believe I’ve made this room!”  Lindsey B

“I’ve enjoyed every single minute of the last two days - I don’t want to go home!” Sam T

“Really clever tips - simple when you know how. Everything explained very clearly. Most enjoyable ” Michael W

“I’ve learned so much in such a short time. You’ve given me a very positive experience and I’m going home to get straight on with my own house!” Mathilde

TWO DAY STUDIO WORKSHOP

NEW GEORGIAN ROOM BOX

What will I make and learn?

This two day course teaches similar techniques to our Original Georgian Room Box course but enables you to create a different interior, this time using wallpaper as well as panelling. The finished room matches perfectly in size with the Original Georgian Room Box, and so both may be displayed either side by side or one on top of the other. Alternatively the domestic scale of both interiors means that they will probably slide into most commercially available doll's houses and their versatile decoration can be adapted to become a bedroom, dining room, sitting room or anteroom.

Equipment

Except for wallpaper, all materials are provided and included in the cost of the course but students are asked to bring a selection of artist’s brushes including; 1 inch artist’s chisel brush: 1/2 inch round: artist’s 000, plus a craft knife, small metal rule and an apron or old clothes.

If you prefer to work with your own hand tools please feel free to bring them.

Students should bring their own choice of wallpaper. This may be bought from miniatures shops and internet outlets. Paper from Susan Bembridge Designs is particularly recommended.

Please do not bring full size wallpaper, gift wrap, print-outs or magazine cuttings.

Your choice of wallpaper pattern might influence the type of room you make and so please consider your choice carefully before you arrive. For example a rich damask design is generally more suited to a sitting or dining room whilst a light floral pattern might be a better choice for a bedroom. However a paler damask could equally fit a bedroom and a heavy symmetrical floral, a reception room.
